GAMMA I-Fork Tube Measuring Arm

30-second efficient detection tool for LRA data acquisition

The PMT GAMMA I-Fork Tube Measuring Arm is designed for 3D inspection of bent tubes, hoses, and other complex tubular parts. Its non-contact infrared probing technology measures tube geometry without touching the tube surface, eliminating compression, deformation, and surface damage. It provides fast and reliable measurement for tubes of different materials, sizes, and shapes.

Combined with the dedicated Tube Inspection Module in PMT INSPECT 3D metrology software, the PMT GAMMA quickly generates LRA (YBC) bending parameters and connects directly with CNC tube bending machines. Measurement data can be transferred directly to production, making it an efficient solution for on-site tube inspection.

Technical Advantages

Built on a 7-axis portable measuring arm platform and equipped with a professional-grade intelligent laser fork probe (I‑Fork), the PMT GAMMA enables rapid acquisition of complete three‑dimensional geometric data of tubular components, and delivers exceptional inspection efficiency and repeatability – particularly when dealing with multi‑bend, long‑length, and flexible, easily deformable tubes.

Multi-Size Laser Fork Probe

The PMT GAMMA Tube Measuring Arm is equipped with a professional laser fork, available in multiple sizes to optimize the tube measurement process. With a tube diameter range of 4 mm to 130 mm, it flexibly adapts to tubes from small to large diameters, meeting a wide range of tube measurement requirements.

Automatic Probe Recognition

Automatic Probe Recognition

The tube probe can be replaced without tools, and the system automatically recognizes the probe after installation. Calibration is required only during initial setup, so replacing a probe of the same specification requires no recalibration, simplifying the measurement workflow.

Automatic Tube Recognition

PMT INSPECT 3D metrology software automatically calculates the tube centerline from measurement data collected by the measuring arm. It identifies straight sections, bends, intersection points, and tangent points, then calculates segment lengths, bend angles, and bend radii (LRA) based on the project parameters. This automated workflow simplifies tube measurement while maintaining measurement accuracy.
30-Second Tube Scanning

30-Second Tube Scanning

No complex alignment or full-length scanning is required. Simply hold the laser fork perpendicular to the tube and scan from one end to the other. Scan the start and end sections three times and the middle sections twice, then click “Generate Tube” to complete the full tube measurement and evaluation in approximately 30 seconds.

CNC Tube Bending Machine Integration

Combined with PMT INSPECT software, the GAMMA I-Fork Tube Measuring Arm quickly generates correction data for production adjustment. Measurement data can be exported with one click and directly connected to CNC tube bending machines from different brands.

Data can be transferred through files, network connections, or other interfaces, depending on the bending machine protocol. Measured LRA deviations can be sent directly to the machine to update bending parameters, supporting a complete workflow of measurement, deviation analysis, correction, re-bending, re-inspection, and mass production.

Leapfrog and Multi-Station Measurement

When a tube exceeds the measurement range of a single station, leapfrog or multi-station measurement can extend the measurement range. The system uses stable common features or coordinate-transfer references to align the measurement stations. After data stitching, the system can extract the tube centerline and calculate the measurement results as a whole.

Accessory Measurement

In addition to tube inspection, the PMT GAMMA Tube Measuring Arm can measure assembly components such as flanges, fittings, brackets, branch tubes, and T-shaped structures. Using a contact or laser line probe, the system captures the position, angle, and orientation of these components and evaluates their relationship with the tube centerline, enabling integrated inspection of the tube and its assembly components.

Related Solutions

The PMT tube measurement solution goes beyond dimensional inspection and deviation analysis. It brings measurement, analysis, reporting, and production correction into one integrated workflow, helping manufacturers simplify complex tube inspection and reduce production costs. The PMT GAMMA I-Fork Tube Measuring Arm has been deployed in industries including automotive, shipbuilding, aerospace, and construction machinery.

Applications

Dimensional Inspection

The PMT GAMMA I-Fork Tube Measuring Arm supports inspection against CAD models or nominal parameters. It quickly obtains XYZ coordinates of tube intersection points and LRA parameters, allowing manufacturers to verify whether bent tubes meet drawing requirements.

Applications

One-Click Reverse Engineering

With the “Reverse Tube Bending” function in PMT INSPECT 3D metrology software, users can generate a 3D tube model with one click. The model can be used for design reconstruction, fixture manufacturing, or creating tube bending programs.

Applications

Data Correction

PMT INSPECT compares measured results with nominal parameters and generates correction data for production adjustment. The data can then be transferred to the tube bending machine for further processing.
